Exercise
Exercising is one of the best medications for ADHD. There is nothing wrong with daily exercise and often ADD can be more pronounced as people exercise less. There is a natural calming of the mind that occurs through aerobic activity. You can walk, run, bike, roller blade, cross country ski, or any machine of your choosing at the gym. Initiating an exercise program may be very difficult in the beginning so finding something you absolutely love to do or find something you can do do take your mind off of the exercise. I used my stationary bike riding time for reading or listening to books or music on tape and even went as far as setting up a stand for my lap top computer so I could email, write or surf the web as I exercised. The time passes much more quickly. You will find though the more you exercise and the better shape you get into the easier it will be to continue. You will also notice improvements in you concentration levels almost immediately. Make it goal to do something aerobic everyday for 30 45 minutes. Just make the committment to it just like brushing your teeth and I think your life will change for the better.
